授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase their vocabulary and strategies for grasping meaning of vocabulary in texts 2. To review grammar and cohesive devises 3. To develop basic reading skills and strategies (pre-reading, during reading and after　reading strategies) 4. To develop comprehension strategies to understand reading materials without　translating them into Japanese 5. To clarify the structure of a paragraph or essay (dependent on the level of the students)
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	PorTa IIを利用した課題提示とDropboxのファイル共有あるいはYouTube等を利用した授業動画のオンデマンド配信によって授業を実施する。また、Googleフォームを利用して、隔週で小テストを実施する。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	PorTa IIの掲示板にアップロードされる問題に、教科書の指定箇所を読んで答える。授業動画を視聴した後、復習課題に取り組む。隔週の小テストに備えて、新しく覚えた単語を整理する。
