授業の目的・内容 ／Course Objectives	This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students. Overall Objectives 1．To increase their vocabulary 2．To review grammar 3．To develop basic reading skills & strategies 4．To understand how various texts are organized
授業の形式・方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	様々な工夫をこらして文章の読解力を向上させるための方法（ストラテジー）を学びます。言語を問わず共通するストラテジーがありますが、本授業ではもちろん英語の読解を通してそれを学びます。教科書を軸に、それ以外の題材も使いながら、英語の文章をスムーズに理解し、その内容を的確に把握する術を鍛えます。
事前・事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	教科書をできるだけ時間をかけて読んでから毎回の授業にのぞむ。ホームワークやテストの準備を地道に行う。
