1. Reasons for choosing Dokkyo University
I heard many good things about the Japanese language program from German students who studied at Dokkyo University. They say that the language courses are adapted for each student and the classes are limited up to 10 participants. Next to that, I wanted to study together with students with different cultural backgrounds. Last but not least, the location of Dokkyo University is very attractive. The calm atmosphere in Soka is very suitable for studying and if you need some excitement, you can easily go to Tokyo by train.

2. Impressions of Dokkyo University
At first, I was a little bit nervous because all lessons were taught in Japanese the whole time. Even the textbook and other materials were in Japanese. But after a short while I got used to this method and my competence of Japanese improved a lot. The teachers and the staff of the International Center were always helpful. Japanese students of Dokkyo University are very friendly and open-minded. During my time at Dokkyo University I found many new friends.

3. Message to prospective students
The Japanese language program seems to be very intensive but a good opportunity to improve your language skills. Dokkyo University organizes many events where you can speak Japanese and find new friends. You will enjoy it.

1. Reasons for choosing Dokkyo University
Dokkyo has an intensive language program and financial aid for international exchange students that impressed me as much as its long history. Its connection to Germany has always been fairly strong and this aspect of cultural and linguistic exchange is still strikingly present in today’s Dokkyo University. Not only was I hoping to meet open-minded fellow students to help me improve my Japanese and to get to know more about their culture, I also wanted to become part of this important history.

2. Impressions of Dokkyo University
Even though intimidated by the amount of classes at first, we all adjusted to it pretty quickly. The teachers are very nice and respect each student’s own pace. The environment is ideal for learning and for making new friends. If there is any difficulty, no matter how trivial it might appear, the friendly staff of the International Center will be glad to assist you.

3. Message to prospective students
Dokkyo is a good place to study, to meet new people and, of course, to simply enjoy your life in Japan. Whether you prefer a rather quite countryside or thrilling Tokyo, both are within easy reach. Don’t hesitate to apply!

It was very inspiring to see so many Dokkyo students who are capable of various languages, including Arabic. The environment for learning languages, including at the International Communication Zone (ICZ), was very rich. 3. Message to prospective students
One year is too short for studying. So it is essential to set a goal for your stay in Japan. If you keep at goal in your mind, you will never waste your time. You may have plans to do various things in Japan, but the time spent at the university is the most important. You study, participate in extracurricular activities or clubs, and make friends in class.
